Tutorial and Other arrangements for Chinese

 

All students

 

Timetables and other information for all years are on the Centre for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language website (www.ctcfl.ox.ac.uk/), under 'Student Diary'.

 

The Consultative meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday of 7th week (6 June) at 3 p.m. Anyone with items of business should notify Dr Newby one week in advance.

 

Fourth year

 

Revision classes Students should contact the relevant teachers to arrange revision sessions.

 

Option texts contact the relevant tutor.

 

Zhuangzi discussion classes  will be on Wednesdays at 11 in Room 206, immediately following Dr Newby's class.

 

Poetry revision

The remaining session left over from last term will take place on Tuesday (1 May) at 11 in  Room 205

Third year

 

History tutorials

John McMillan, William Minter, Billy Prior, Isobel Rawlings, Leah Russell and Rafal Stepien should meet with Dr Askew on Tuesday of 1st week (April 24th) at 9.30am in the common room.
 
Katy Holiday, Kirsten Hunter, Andrew Iliffe, Ramsey Jourdan, Adam Kelly and Olly Lough should see Dr Newby at the same time in her room.
 

Dissertations

There will be meetings for all students to give a brief presentation on the topic of their dissertation on Friday of 7th week (8th June) at 2.15 pm. All students must attend both sessions. A schedule of presentations will be posted later in the term.

 

Modern literature special texts will be the Hongloumeng, ch. 69 '弄小巧用借剑杀人...' . Two texts to be collected from Office; one abbreviated of the 120 juan version and one in full forms of the 80 juan version. Start preparing for first week class on Tuesday at 11 with Dr Starr in Room 206.

 

Class with Dr Liu at Thursdays at 12 in room 205 will be on Chinese first and second generation films. No texts required.

First Year

 

Mods Topics. Please sign up on the accompanying list by Monday of 1st Week (23 April).

 

Elementary classes will take place as usual on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 weeks 1-3. Dr Bilyanna Scott will give four lectures on Linguistics on Thursday of 1st week, on Tuesday and Thursday of 2nd week, and Tuesday of 3rd week. Dr Liu will teach the other hours.

End-of-First-Year Collection will be held in the Institute for Chinese Studies in 8th Week:

Oral  Thursday 14 June p.m.:

Classical Chinese Friday 15 June 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Modern Chinese Friday 15 June 2.30 to 5 p.m.
