Zhang Yuming:   huānyíng nín    lái     zuò   kè

张      玉明：   欢   迎    您    来     作   客!

Zhang Yuming:  Welcome! It’s great that you can come.

Laite xiansheng:   xièxie!    wǒ  dì    yī    cì   dào zhōngguórén jiā    lǐ

赖特  先生：     谢谢！  我  第   一  次   到  中     国 人  家   里。

Mr. Light :          Thanks. This is my first time visiting a Chinese home.

Zhang Yuming:   nín    xiān kànkan       zhè    shì kètīng,         èrshíliù    píng     mǐ         kètīng        wàibiān shì  yángtái

张      玉明：    您     先    看看。    这     是 客厅，       二十六  平       米。     客厅          外边    是   阳台。

             Have a look around first . This is the sitting room, 26 square metres. There is a balcony outside the sitting room.       

                         zhè   liǎng  ge     wòshì     zhījiān    shì  cèsuǒ

                         The toilet is between the two bedrooms.

Laite xiansheng: yígòng       duōshǎo      miànji?

赖特  先生：  一共         多少          面积 ？

Mr. Light:          How many meters does it cover in total ?

Zhang Yuming:  yìbǎi  èrshí   píngmǐ             zuǒyòu..

张      玉明：  一百  二十  平米               左右。

                    120             square meters   more or less

Zhang Yuming:  About 120  square  metres.

Laite xiansheng: zhè  ge  lóu         qiánbiān  shì  yí    ge    shāngdiàn ba?

赖特  先生：   这  个   楼          前  边   是   一   个   商店       吧 ？

Light:                 Is it a shop in front of the building?

Zhang Yuming:    duì.        lóu         hòubiān háiyǒu yí   ge  xiăofànguănr      măidōngxi, chī fàn     dōu   hěn   fāngbiàn.

张    玉明：       对。      楼        后边     还  有 一 个  小   饭   馆。   买 东西、 吃饭       都    很    方便。

Zhang Yuming:    Yes.  There is a small restaurant behind the building. It is very convenient to go shopping or having meals.

Laite Xiansheng:  bú cuò,  bú  cuò.

Zhang Yuming:     nín xiān hē    chá    děng  yíhuìr      dào lóu        hòu       fànguǎnr  chī  fàn

张      玉明  ：    您  先  喝    茶。 等     一会儿   到  楼         后        饭馆儿   吃  饭 。

Zhang Yuming:    Have some tea first.  After while, we go to the restaurant.

2.  Explain the following situation to a Chinese friend.

Mr. Light is has been studying Chinese for two years in Beijing.  His Chinese friend, Zhang Yuming knows that Mr. Light has never visited a Chinese family before.  Therefore,  Mr. Zhang has invited Mr. Light to go to his home for dinner.

Mr. Zhang’s house has two bedrooms and one large sitting room. There is a beautiful balcony outside the sitting room. The bathroom is situated between the two rooms. The total living area of the house is about 120 square meters.

There is a small restaurant behind his home and a shop in front. It is very convenient for Mr. Zhang to go shopping and having meals.

Mr. Light is very happy to visit a Chinese home for the first time in China.
