Situation

A is a British student in Beijing who is looking for a job at an English language school

B is the Chinese administrator of Xinqiao English Language College in Beijing

Tasks for A, a British student

Make the conversation as realistic as possible by greeting each other at the beginning and by using small talk. Try to anticipate the flow of the conversation by looking at the following prompts.

  1. (Conversation is based on Advertisement 1.) Tell B your name. Ask B if he or she is looking for English teachers.
  2. Tell B that you have not formally (正式 zhèngshì ADV) taught English, but that you are a student of languages who is interested in teaching English as a second language.
  3. Ask B what level you are going to teach.
  4. Ask B how big the class is going to be.
  5. Ask B if you have to provide (提供 tígòng V) your own teaching material (教材 jiàocái N).
  6. Ask B when you should start the job.
  7. Give B your number and address.
  8. Tell B that you will be there at 5:30 next Monday.
