Hiring a car B | 租 车 B

Situation

A is a British student in Taipei, who wants to hire a car to take his friends for a weekend out

B is a car rental assistant

Tasks for B, an assistant at a car rental shop

Make the conversation as realistic as possible by greeting each other at the beginning and by using small talk. Try to anticipate the flow of the conversation by looking at the following prompts.

  1. Tell A that there are many types of price for hiring cars and ask A how long he or she needs a car for.
  2. Tell A that the cheapest one costs $14,000 exclusive of petrol. The other price is $20,000, which is for a large car.
  3. Ask A if he or she needs a driver.
  4. Tell A that the large car has travel insurance for 5 people and the small one for 4 people.
  5. Tell A that he or she should bring the car back before 7:00 am on Monday.
  6. Ask A for his or her driving licence (驾驶执照 jiàshĭ zhízhào N), and ask A to fill in a form.
  7. Tell A that $10,000 is needed for the deposit ( yājīn N).
  8. Tell A that the car is covered by a breakdown service. (汽车急修服务 qìchē jí xiū fúwù N)
  9. Give A a leaflet (说明书shuōmíngshū N) and ask him or her to read the emergency services details.
