Tasks for B, a Chinese landlord or landlady

Make the conversation as realistic as possible by greeting each other at the beginning and by using small talk. Try to anticipate the flow of the conversation by looking at the following prompts.

  1. Tell A that you are looking for somebody who can teach you English in return for a low rent. (See advertisement 3)
  2. The rent will depend on (...[的情况] kàn...[de qíngkuàng] EXPR) how many hours of English lessons you can have from him or her.
  3. Tell A that the rent would be about (大概 dàgài ADV) $200 a week. You will supply the food for his or her breakfast. There are no other restrictions: he or she will have one room and can have friends around any time.
  4. Give him or her your address.
  5. Tell A that you would like to interview (面谈 miàntán V., e.g. "A" "B" 面谈) him or her before you can make up your mind.
  6. Suggest you see A tomorrow morning at 10.
