British Inter-university China Centre Online Language Assignments Phase Two Info for second intensive teaching week for UI level Apart from attending the regular language classes organised by each centre, Students must join the online interactive Chinese grammar programmes (including the scheduled assignments) provided by the Oxford centre. A written language test will be carried out based on this programme by the end of the academic year. In order to submit the online assignments, students will need MS Office Tools: Global Input Method Editor (IME) for the simplified Chinese characters which can be download free from the MS websites. Please click here. The Chinese IME can be activated by going through the following steps: Start - Setting - Control Panel - Regional and Language - Languages - Details - (under Installed services) - Chinese (PRC) - Add - Apply - OK. The Chinese IME can be accessed from the input icon on the bottom-toolbar. The pinyin input method is used for creating Chinese characters on a Word document.

Phase Two Chinese Language Course for Researchers at Upper-intermediate
Level This course will consist of three sessions of intensive
teaching in late September early January and April. Each teaching session
will be followed by a term (8-9 weeks) of online learning with feedback from
the BICC language teachers. A formal language test will take place at the

First week intensive teaching programme 24-28 September 2012 Students are asked to arrive at Institute for Chinese Studies, Walton Street Oxford by 10 am on Monday, 24 Sept. (On the Google Map it is marked as Carendon Institute) The Teaching starts at 10 am and finishes at 3 pm. The Language Laboratory is available for students from 9 to 10 am everyday. The daily teaching session will consist of the following three parts. 1. Learning method: discussing individual learning difficulties and exchanging practical language learning methods 2. Revising and consolidating session: encouraging the use of active language skills by helping students to apply the skills and the materials that they have learned; language tests 3. Introduction of new materials + drills: teaching new lessons of the day and the language laboratory teaching Coffee and tea break 11:30-11:50 Lunch break 1:00-1:30 pm Part 1 on the first day of the programme will be used for registration and introduction. There will be no class on Thursday, 18 April, as the language instructors will be involved in the final oral examinations for the Chinese undergraduates of Oxford University. The daily teaching session will consist of the following three parts. 1. Learning method: discussing individual learning difficulties and exchanging practical language learning methods 2.
