Pop Culture
Based on a survey conducted on youth between 15-18 in the greater Taipei
area, a British social scientist is having a talk with the chairwoman of the
Council for Cultural Affairs in Taiwan on the influence of pop Culture in
Taiwan. B: I have heard that you had carried out an official survey investigating the current development and trends of young people's interests towards pop culture. B: It is said that the survey has indicated young people in Taiwan are much more attracted by Japanese, European and American culture. Only 19 percent polled said that they like the local pop culture. Would you like to comment on this situation? B: Could you talk a bit more about your promotion of local education in this aspect? B: What do young people mainly look to for culture information according to the results of survey? B: I have also heard about the hip-hop popularity in Shanghai. What about the parents generation here? Has the survey indicated in any way how the parents understand this situation? |
