Comments  Alternatively: 我 今 天 晚 上 给 你 作 些 菜 wŏ jīntiān wăngshang gěi nĭ zuò xiē cài. 几 jĭ can be used not only as a question how many, but can also be used as 些 xiē some / a few. It is difficult to distinguish between the meanings without knowing the context of the conversation.
