Question: Tell your friend that immediately after you finished your morning lessons yesterday, you went to have a meal with a Chinese friend in a pub.

Comments  Alternatively: 昨 天 我 一 上 完 上 午 课 就 跟 一 个 中 国 朋 友一 起 去 酒 吧 吃 饭 了 zuótiān wŏ yí shàng wán shàngwǔ kè jiù gēn yí ge Zhōngguó péngyou yì qĭ qù jiǔba chī fàn le. The sentence pattern V了O, 就VO了 VleO,jiùVOle implies that as soon as the first action in the first clause is finished the second action in the second clause will follow. 了le in the first clause indicates the completion of the action in the conditional clause. 了le in the second clause indicates that both the actions have taken place. Without the 了le in the second clause, the sentence implies that both actions have not yet taken place: 我 上 完 了 上 午 课 就 跟 一 个 中 国 朋 友 去 酒 吧 吃 饭 wŏ shàng wán le shàngwǔ kè jiù gēn yí ge Zhōngguó péngyou qù jiǔba chī fàn as soon as I have finished morning classes I will go to the pub and have meal with a Chinese friend.
