A duplicated verb phrase is used to soften the tone of voice, especially in the situation where the verb has to be placed at the end of a sentence. For instance, 我 给 你 介 绍 介 绍 wŏ gěi nĭ jièjièshàoshào let me introduce you: without the duplication at the end it sounds abrupt and bossy.
